Art. Lebedev

The Art. Lebedev Studio is the largest design company in Russia, founded in 1995 by Artemy Lebedev. This company has it’s fingers in a lot of pies including industrial design, graphic design, web design, and interface engineering. I found about this site by accident when try find some interesting desktop background on Google images. When looking around the site I found it very interesting. As a design company it has lots of really cool ideas for real world products and has a very different view on product design. With lots of different things the company makes, I was shocked to find out that they also make computer parts.

Most interesting is a product called Optimus keyboard (pictured left). Every key of the Optimus keyboard is a stand-alone display showing exactly what it is controlling at this very moment. Personally, I don’t think that I am going to be rushing out to get one just yet as, looking at the Art. Lebedev store, the prices that seem to start at $1400, which is a little out of my range. It is still very interesting to look around the everything part of the site and see all the idea they have.

There is also I never nice set of desktop backgrounds, which are entitled posters which are free to download and use on your own computer. Personally I love the background called, New directions and I used it as my background for many months.

It is nice to see stuff like this, with some much of the internet full of rubbish. Hope you enjoyed the site.

We have all seen pictures made out of set of characters. Lots of them are very simply made but there some more complexed ones out tehre. Personally I always wondered how it was done. I thought there simply must be a piece of software that does it for you out there. Turns out there is and it is completely free and online. The site is called JPG2TXT. I have tried lots of different pictures and some work better than others but give it a go. Here are some I have tried.

Visual Cassette

I was sorting through some old stuff the other day and came across this. Okay that is a lie but what if it was true. This is another example of the wonders of the internet, allowing you to waste your time better and faster. Says-it’s Cassette Generator allows you create a visual tape with your own text. It allows you to customize the top three lines with your own text. So if your not part of the MP3 age, give it ago and see what you can make.

I also made this one, I don’t think anyone else but me and a few others will get the joke.

Firefox crop circle

Posted on:

The world has truly gone firefox crazy, becuase believe it or not, this picture is real.Made by some local fans of Firefox, the Firefox Crop Circle project shows that we have so much passion for the web browser that the logo can now be seen from visible from space.

Quote from the offical web site.

Planned in under two weeks and completed in under 24 hours, the crop circle had a final diameter of 220 feet. We constructed the circle in an oat field near Amity, Oregon, where it was completely invisible from the road but unmistakable from the sky. Our team consisted of 12 people, mainly OSU students, and we carefully stomped down oats from 3:30pm Friday afternoon until 2:30am, putting on the finishing touches between 7:30am and 11:00am Saturday, August 12.

Read the article of how it was done at http://lug.oregonstate.edu/index.php/Projects/Firefox/Firefox_Circle.
