Last years Resoltions revisted 08

Posted on:

It is that time of the year again to look back on the year gone by and looking at the resolutions I set at the start of the year. It has been a long and hard year for me, so forgive me if I didn’t do as well as I hoped.

  1. Get an up to date Calendar, putting all coursework dates, birthdays and everything else.
This really has been a massive success and I couldn’t been happier with how it turned out. It really was interesting to look at different was to do this. In the end I started using google calender, that can sync with both Outlook and iCal. This wasn’t very good as it was only one way, you couldn’t write to the online from these programmes. But then google introducted Caldev. This allows you to sync both ways, which is perfect. The final piece of the puzzle getting an Ipod Touch, which syncs on up iCal, meaning that I had on calender in my pocket.
  2. Do more cooking
Now that I finally have a house that I spend anytime in, this year and the cost of living going up, I had to learn how to cook. I am still not have good, but at least I am not eating out every other day. I will improve on this one.
  3. See friends from home more
It depends who you ask about this one, I have stayed close to some friends and lost touch with others. It is can be hard to keep in touch. I know that many of my friends who didn’t hear from me in a while, check this blog. Those of my friends who are reading this, your legends!
  4. Stay in contact with my family
If you ask my mother, she will say that day to day, she doesn’t know if I am alive when I am at university. I find it hard to focus on things for off, but I will try harder on this one.
  5. Eat less sweets, crisps and chocolates
I have got have done extremely well on this one. I simply got sick of eating all that rubbish all the time. Having said this I do currently have a draw full of crisps in my room, this is only because it is cheaper to buy 24 packs. This is my story and I am sticking to it!
  6. Pass my second year of University
This was extremely hard but I did do it with a 2-1. There are some example of some of the work I have done over the year on the web, the doctor surgery,  Java servlets and java network tool.
  7. Find time to find new music
I have pretty good at this one. I think that I should have done the resolution to go to gig and find a place for music in my life. I went to lots of gigs this year, including the future heads and the 46664 Nelson Mandela gig where I got to see Will Smith play live. The best way of finding new music was creating an account on Last FM, which installs a plugin on your music player and counts the number of time you play songs and who by. It also advices you bands you may like comparing it to music collection. You can also see what your friends are listening to. Through this I found a band called WolfMother, which I am still listening to. The best bit if that you can even stream full songs on the site or install the Ipod Touch/Iphone App.
  8. Be earlier with getting form, coursework and other important things in.
Rubbish at this, physically can not do it.
  9. Get a summer job.
I managed this, I did some temp work, which turned out to be pretty fun time. Having some money for a change was really nice too!
  10. Have weekend away with Bex Terry
Now I must admit this is one of the biggest regret of the year that I didn’t have an money to go away with my lady friend this year. We did do a day trip to the isle of white and I did spend many weeks with her over the summer, but it is not the same. I will have to take her somewhere in the new year.

All in all, I think I did extremely well this year, I set myself reachable targets and they came off extremely well. I could always do better but that is always the case. I thought it might be interesting to look back on 2007 Resoltions but I need to write next years.
