Xbox 360 Junky

30 August 2007. Tagged computers, review

After completely my first year of uni I decided to treat myself to a brand new Xbox 360. This decision didn’t come lightly, as the console cost as much £250 and games nearly £50. But as many of my friends had already got them, I decided to give it a go. I have had it nearly two months now and I must admit that I am completely hooked. I don’t know what it is about the thing but I can’t seem to put down the controller and playing. I got a really good deal on Play.com which also ment the console came with another wireless controller and three games best game of the time, Gears of war and PGR 3. It also came with Xbox LIVE Arcade Unplugged. I love Gears of War, parts of it a simply great to look at. But oddly some of the funniest games are the xbox live arcade which had mini downloadable games like Pac-man. Why this funny is that the xbox 360 is an extremely advanced piece of kit, with 4 proccessors and people are playing 20 year old arcade games on them. The best arcade game that I have played is called Hexic HD. It comes free with the console and I must admit I am still playing it months on. It is a puzzle game from Alexey Pajitnov, the original creator of Tetris and it is as adictive.

Things I carry
This is a picture of everything that I carry around in pockets and on my person on an noraml day. It is really shocking how much stuff I need to get by from day to day. In this picture there is from left to right:

  • Wallet (with Money and credit card)
  • British passport Nokia
  • N73 mobile phone
  • National rail card
  • Key (with small pen knife and bottle openner)
  • Creative Zen Vision:M
  • Watch

I am shocked that it all fits in my pockets and my person. Everything that I have with me has it’s use. It will be interested to do this again in 5, 10 and 15 years time see how much I carry changes. I think that in the future I will only carry a phone with built-in mp3 instead of having two devices. Will I have car keys or sweets for my children. This picture remids me of what my life is really from day to day. This picture was taken for the The Items We Carry Flickr group pool.

15 things I wished I had known BEFORE I went to University

  • That it didn’t matter how late my first lecture was, I’d still sleep through it.
  • That I could change so much and barely realize it.
  • That you can love a lot of people in a lot of different ways.
  • No matter how ‘cool’ you were in school, no one here cares.
  • That if you wear polyester everyone will ask why you are so dressed up.
  • That every clock on campus shows a different time.
  • That if you got good a-levels, so what? It doesn’t matter here.
  • That I would go to a party the night before an exam or essay due-date.
  • That you can know everything and fail a test or know nothing and ace a test.
  • That I could get used to almost anything found out about my friends.
  • That most of my education would be obtained outside of lectures.
  • That friendship is more than getting drunk together.
  • That Sunday is a figment of the world’s imagination.
  • That Psychology is really Biology, that Biology is really Chemistry, that Chemistry is really Physics and that Physics is really Maths.
  • That it’s possible to be alone even when you are surrounded by friends.
